Agro Tech Festival organized to upgrade farmers knowledge

An Agro Tech Festival was organized by the Science Farm Center (KCK) Sagroli for the farmers in Nanded District from 19th to 22nd January 2015 with an objective to acquaint farmers with the latest technique and technology for agriculture. Our main guests  Mr. Padwal (District Agriculture Officer, Nanded), Mr. More (District Agriculture Development Officer, Nanded) and Mr. Dahale (Project Director – Atma, Nanded) were   addressed farmers on the inauguration day.  Demonstration, training and expert guidance arranged on the occasion.
Considering the unpredictable adverse climatic conditions, the farmers were suggested to take up various additional side businesses for their sustenance to prevent future economical challenges. Farmers were got exposure from the model of successful goat and poultry-farming which were running experimental level at KVK Sagroli. At the time of this event farmers were guided with all kinds of expert support and demonstration for side businesses from agriculture.
They were also told about the importance of prudent water management with drip irrigation and hirable tools in the agriculture.
To overcome the drought conditions, the farmers were advised to utilize home-grown seed corn instead of going for hybrid ones.  As a matter of prudent farming they can reap harvest with the due consideration of market conditions.
As far as women’s participation in farming is concerned, the experts were of the view that they had a Lion’s share in Indian farming.  Women had been considerably contributing to the farming, besides their household responsibilities. 
During the special session for women in the festival, the experts advised women that it was the need of the hour for them to go for a change.  Now, they should try to contribute their efforts in agriculture. A demonstration of tools designed for the women to be useful in the kitchen and farming was arranged.
On the concluding, the farmers were guided on the importance of animal husbandry.

The whole event was greatly successful.
